Born and raised in Stuart, Florida, Larry Rinker was first introduced to the game by his father, who inspired three children to go on and play golf on the highest level. In 1981 Larry qualified for the PGA Tour at the last spring qualifying school. He is a PGA Tour Qualifying School graduate four times: 1981-82-83-1996 and finished in the top 125 on the PGA Tour Money List 12 times, 1984-1993 and 1997-1998. Larry has played in 525 PGA Tour events with 283 career cuts.
Larry is considered by his peers to be one of the games best short game instructors. His run on the PGA Tour included a win at the J.C. Penney Classic in 1985 and leading the Tour in putting in 1990. He has played in every major championship (15) interacted with all of golf's greats. Larry has published two golf instructional ebooks with video lessons, Rinker Five Fundamentals of Being a Great Player and a second version for women with his sister Laurie, with both having a major focus on the short game inside of 100 yards. Larry currently hosts a golf instruction show, “Rinker’s Golf Tips” Sunday mornings 8-9am ET on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio with weekly guests that include Top 100 Golf Teachers, Hall of Fame Members, Musicians, and Celebrities.
Larry uses TrackMan to help his students understand the ball flight laws and provides every student with an in depth video review (screencast) of their lesson. Larry feels the biggest key in using the TrackMan, compared to when he played the PGA Tour, is that he is no longer guessing path. Larry’s goal is to change the numbers is a way that his students understand, and also help them find simple keys and feels that will work for their individual golf swing. “TrackMan has made me a better instructor because I now have the facts of what happened at impact and I can provide a superior product to my students by quantifying their improvement with the TrackMan parameters and real time video analysis.”
