49 year-old New Orleans native and resident Brian Manzella has been teaching golf for 28 years.
A 21-year member of the PGA of America, Brian was named the PGA Kentucky Section Teacher of the Year in 2003. After being one of only 31 instructor’s world-wide to receive a G.S.E.D., from The Golfing Machine, he left the organization in 2010 to start Project 1.68, an explanation of the synergy of the sciences as they apply to the golf swing.
In 1987 he began a long tutelage under world-renown instructor Ben Doyle, and in 1988 began a long teacher-student relationship with PGA Champion David Toms who he continues to work with to this day.
Brian's website, BrianManzella.com, averages over 3 million hits per month, consistently ranking in the top 5 sites of any single golf instructor site in the world over the past three years. His free YouTube videos have been viewed more than 400,000 times. An avid TrackMan user, Brian has produced several videos on the real world application of the "new ball flight laws" that the D-Plane has brought to light.
He has produced a dozen retail instructional videos, and his "Confessions of a Former Flipper" is among the largest selling self-produced golf instructional videos on the internet.
Brian appeared in the PGA DVD Instructional Series, and is featured in several short tips on PGA.com
Manzella has thirteen Brian Manzella Academy instructors in eight states and Australia, and started a teacher education program, the GTE (which stands for Golf Teacher Excellence) in 2009, and held its first conference in October, near Washington, D.C., which was attended by teachers from several states and four countries, a second conference was held in early 2010 in Las Vegas.
Along with fellow PGA Member Mike Finney, Brian hosted the 1st Annual Anti-Summit Golf Swing Symposium in Scottsdale, Arizona, which featured Golf scientists and PHDs, Paul Wood, Rob Neal, and Aaron Zick.
Brian does several schools and 'tour stops" through the country each year, visiting 10 states in 2010 (Minnesota, Arizona, Oregon, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, New York, Maryland, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania).
Manzella's Academy home base is English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans.
